What Kind Of Indoor Air Purifier Helps With Gasses And Odors?
When you are searching for an Indoor Air purifier to help battle toxic gasses and household odors, it’s hard to know what to look for with all the different technical information each air purifier comes with. What you want to look for is a very simple thing. Find a purifier that includes an Activated Carbon Filter.
Activated Carbon filters; they are rarely used alone in an air purifier; they generally come as a combined feature. This can be a very important filter if you are looking to keep a room purified of toxic gasses, smoke, chemicals, and fumes. Perhaps some kind of home improvement project or a hobby that involves toxic fumes, these are not always easily ventilated just from an open window and a fan.
How this works is the activated carbon is treated with oxygen, this causes millions of pores to open up on the carbon allowing it to trap gasses and odors that try to pass through. The larger the carbon filter is, the more it will be able to trap. When the filter becomes full it will need to be replaced or it will not work efficiently. Some carbon filters are treated with an additional chemical that allows it to also capture VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) like pesticides, solvents, fuels and others. If that is something you are looking for make sure it is included, just look for something mentioning VOC’s.
While a HEPA filter is one of the best filters on the market for eliminating small particles, it cannot trap gasses or odors by itself. That’s why you would want to make sure this feature comes with it if that’s the route you planned to go.
