Is it wise/okay to leave your external hard drive plugged into the computer?
or do you have to remove is soon before it heats up?
i ask because i’ve had a USB pendrive that got fried once, and apparently the reason was because i kept it in the drive for too long, so will this happen to the ext HD?
also, the newer models of ext HD don’t have as much vents, [eg compare the WD my book to the newer 'essentials' range] so is this bad as well?

i would not recommend to leave it plugged in for days
for several hours like 10-12 hours , its ok , i plugg in my Seagate FreeAgent for dat much time to my machine ,
but i never keep it plugged in for a day or something like dat
using it for 18 months , no problem so far
