Grow Ballast Reflector
question about HPS light, help please?
im making a grow room for my grandma. (not for cannabis) theres 1 400w hps light with a reflector and a ballast.
do hps lights get really hot? whats the risk of a fire since theres only 1 light?
i dont know if i could have a method of ventilation i cant cut any holes in the wall for ducts or piping. would fans blowing in the room be ok?

Yeah, they get pretty hot. Ventilation should definitely be advised. Especially in summer. You could get away without an intake fan in winter. The ballast gets very hot also. Make sure your ballast is seperated from the floor by a block of wood, or suspend it from the wall. If you can’t get hold of an outtake fan, then try to at least keep a window open. Using a desktop fan to blow over your plants will help.
The other reason for ventilation is to replace the air in the room and give the plants carbon dioxide.
If you can’t cut holes in walls, get ducting and attach it to your growroom and out to a window if possible.
