Grow Lights for Hydroponics Gardening
Hydroponics is the process of growing vegetables, flowers, herbs and other plants without soil and sun light. This type of indoor gardening uses special grow lights for photo synthesis process of the plants. Special type of lamps and fluorescent bulbs are used to throw grow lights on the plants for this purpose. The intensity of the light, light color and duration of the light plays main role in the growth rate of the plants in hydroponics gardening.
There are different types of grow lights being used for hydroponic gardening. The most popular types of grow lights are incandescent, fluorescent lamps, high-intensity discharge lamps and LEDs. A light which resembles in properties and colors to the natural sun light is considered to be more suitable for indoor gardening and in this regard, high intensity discharge lamps like HPS (High Pressure Sodium) and metal halide lights are getting huge popularity because of their close resemblance with the sun light. However, these lights are considered to be more suitable in second phase of the growth and often not recommended for initial growth phase.
The type of grow lights being used directly impact the cost of hydroponics gardening and you need to be very careful while buying grow lights. A proper market research is required to find the best suited lighting systems for your specific needs. Currently, there are a large number of manufacturers who produce and sell hydroponic gardening equipments like hydroponic systems, nutrients and grow lights. While buying grow lights, the most important factors to consider include initial cost, recurring power consumption cost and the lighting system’s durability.
